How to Check Name on UNIJOS Admission List

UNIJOS aspirants can check their admission through two (2) procedures. The first procedure is via the JAMB CAPS portal, while the second procedure is on the school’s admission portal.

Check Admission Status Via the JAMB Portal

Candidates can check their admission status via JAMB CAPS portal by following the instructions below:

  • Visit the jamb CAPS portal: https://efacility.jamb.gov.ng/
  • Log in using your JAMB profile credentials.
  • Navigate to ‘Check Admission Status’ tab.
  • Click on ‘Admission Status’ or ‘Access my CAPS’.
  • If on mobile, enable desktop site view by selecting the three-dotted menu (⋮) usually on the top right side of your screen. Then select ‘Desktop site’.
  • The option bar ‘Admission Status’ will automatically pop out. Click on it. You can also click on Access my CAPS’ for admission status and other CAPS-related services.
  • This process will show you whether you’ve been offered admission to UNIJOS once the university has uploaded its admission list to the JAMB system.

  • Case 1: If you see “CONGRATULATIONS,” it means you’ve been offered admission! You can either accept or reject it and wait for further instructions.
  • Case 2: If the status says “Admission in Progress,” be patient; your status might likely change in a few days or weeks. Just keep checking regularly.
  • Case 3: If it says “NOT ADMITTED,” don’t lose hope! There are usually subsequent lists, and you might still get lucky.

This process will show you whether you’ve been offered admission to UNIJOS once the university has uploaded its admission list to the JAMB system.

If Admitted, you can print your admission slip directly from the portal.

Candidates who chose University of Jos and registered for 2024/2025 PUTME screening exercise can log on to https://portal.unijos.edu.ng/Account/CheckAdmission to check their admission statuses.

  • Fill in your username which is your Jamb Registration Number.
  • Then fill in your Password in the designated spaces.
  • Click on the get started button to view status.

About UNIJOS

The University of Jos, commonly known as Unijos, is a prestigious federal university located in Jos, Plateau State, in central Nigeria. Its origins trace back to November 1971 when it was established as a satellite campus of the University of Ibadan.

The university initially admitted its first students in January 1972 as pre-degree candidates, with the first Bachelor of Arts degree program commencing in October 1973.

In October 1975, Unijos was officially recognized as a separate institution by the then military government under General Murtala Mohammed. Professor Gilbert Onuaguluchi became the first Vice-Chancellor, leading the newly independent university.

In October 1976, the university began classes with about 575 students enrolled across four faculties: Arts and Social Sciences, Education, Natural Sciences, and Medical Sciences.

The institution expanded its academic offerings in 1977 by introducing postgraduate programs. By 1978, the university further grew with the establishment of the Faculties of Law and Environmental Sciences, and the separation of the Faculties of Arts and Social Sciences into distinct entities.
