Some fun cool facts about Kadpoly!!
About Kadpoly
The journey of Kaduna Polytechnic traces back to 1951 with the initial idea of establishing a technical institution in Northern Nigeria. This vision materialized in 1956 with the founding of Kaduna Technical Institute.
Initially referred to as the Technical Institute, it underwent a significant transformation in 1962 when it was renamed Kaduna Polytechnic by the Northern Nigeria Executive Council. The institution formally became Kaduna Polytechnic in 1968, solidified through Federal Government Decree No. 20, later amended by Decree No. 79 in 1979.
In 1991, the Federal Government took over the Polytechnic, bringing it under its control through Decree No. 40. Over time, Kaduna Polytechnic has become the largest higher institution in Nigeria and the largest technical institution in Africa, spread across four campuses.
The institution offers over 138 programs within 44 academic departments and caters to more than 25,000 students.
Kaduna Polytechnic’s development was significantly influenced by the late Premier of Northern Nigeria, Sir Ahmadu Bello, and Alhaji Isa Kaita, with its structure rooted in the amalgamation of the College of Science and Technology and the Staff Development Centre in 1968.
Previously funded and managed by the eleven northern states, it is now under federal administration.
The Polytechnic’s reputation extends beyond Nigeria, making it a key player in Africa’s educational landscape. Its impact continues under the leadership of its Governing Council and Rector.
