Before delving into the crux of this article, it is important to state that everything relating to JAMB including the registration, institution selection, examinations and acceptance or rejection of admission offered by the Board occurs on the JAMB official website and its approved centers.

How to Accept / Reject Admission On JAMB CAPS Portal
There are basically 2 methods or ways of accepting or rejecting admission.
It could be either online, through the JAMB portal or through text messages.
How to Accept / Reject Admission On JAMB CAPS Portal
Below are the steps to follow for the acceptance or rejection of admission on the JAMB portal.
Step One
Log in to the jamb official website at jamb.gov. ng, this could be done using your phone browser or your PC.
After gaining access to the site, proceed to click the navigation button on the homepage, this will bring up many options to select from.

Step Two
Click on the ‘CAPS(Candidates)’ option. This is highlighted in blue in the image above.
This is the option that will enable you to log in into your dashboard, which was created at the time of your registration.
Step Three
After clicking on the CAPS(Candidates), the system will take you to the efacility portal where you are to input your email address and the password.
Note that this email address is the one opened during the registration for JAMB and not your regular email.
To be safe it is advisable to use the registered email for JAMB purposes only.
Step Four
Access to the candidates’ dashboard will be granted when the correct log in email and password is inputted.
Proceed to select the year you registered and sat for the examinations.
Then click on the ‘check admission status tab’ which is the last tab on the dashboard (the tab is represented by a checkmark ✔️)
Step Five
Next, a new interface with two options will appear. The options include ‘Access my CAPS’ and ‘Check Admission Status’.
The check admission status option helps to confirm if you have truly been admitted.
However, to Accept or Reject Admission, after you have confirmed that you have been offered one, click on the ‘Access my CAPS’ option as shown in the image below.
Step Six
After clicking and accessing your CAPS, the next interface will present a variety of options to choose from, click on the ‘ ‘Regular Admission Status’ tab which is for those who applied for the regular admission or click on the ‘Part-Time/Sandwich/DLI/ NOUN Admission Status’ tab if you registered for any of the options.
Both options are indicated by the victory hand symbol.
However, for the regular admission, the tab is in green, while the other is in orange. Select the one that applies to you.
- The next interface will show the candidate’s information which will include; the JAMB registration number, the institution applied, the course of study, the admission status, and the options for either accepting or rejecting the admission. If the admission has been offered, the ‘Accept’ or ‘Reject’ will be made bold in black. You can proceed to accept or reject the admission.
Admission Acceptance or Rejection Through SMS
Another way that admission could be accepted or rejected is through the use of SMS. This involves a few easy steps.
To accept or reject admission using the SMS option, simply type ACCEPT or REJECT as SMS and send to 55019 or 66019.
Do this using the phone number used during the registration of JAMB. Note however that there would be a service charge for the sending of the SMS.
The Implications of Accepting or Rejecting Admission
Any decision you take in accepting or Rejecting Admission has its own consequences. If you choose to accept the admission, it means you accept the course of study and the institution you’ve been offered, and you can’t be offered admission by another school again.
If you choose to reject the admission, it means you are not accepting the course or the institution you have been offered and you’re open to being offered admission by other institutions with available admission slots.
It should be noted that there is no undoing an action after the admission has been accepted or rejected.
Be sure the option you’re selecting is really your choice so as to avoid future regrets.
If you choose to accept the admission, ensure you print your admission letter which will be sent at a later date, it will be required for your school registration processes.
