Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), established on October 4, 1962, as the University of Northern Nigeria, holds the distinction of being the first university in Northern Nigeria. Named after the Sardauna of Sokoto, Alhaji Sir Ahmadu Bello, the university is a symbol of educational excellence and heritage.
